Morocco decries Israeli escalation in occupied Palestinian territories
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 12/5/2001

Morocco has decried the Israeli raids against Palestinian authority institutions and buildings.

"The Kingdom of Morocco strongly condemns and firmly decries the war escalation by the Israeli forces in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel's attempts to destroy the Palestinian authority, its institutions and buildings," the spokesman for the Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation department said.

The spokesman described the Israeli raids as a new attempt by the Sharon government to lead the international community to a deadlock and to foil any initiative to resume peace negotiations.

The spokesman called on the international community, especially the sponsors of the peace process, the USA and Russia, as well as the United Nations secretary general, to immediately intervene to stop the continuous Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and its institutions.

The Palestinian National Authority is the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and any initiative to destroy it actually seeks to definitively harm security and peace, consecrate occupation and represents a blatant challenge to the international community, to the United Nations resolutions and to international legality.
