Grand Imam of Al Azhar: aggression on civilians rejected in Islam
Egypt, Religion, 12/4/2001
Aggression on civilians is rejected in Islam, said Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Mohammed Sayed Tantawi on his meeting with a delegation of Foreign Correspondents Association which comprised 55 correspondents.
"Human soul is protected in Islam and whoever kills a sinless human is deemed to kill all human souls," he added.
On the other hand, Sheikh Tantawi attended the national unity Iftar along with Pope of Alexandria and Saint Mark Diocese, Pope Shenouda III.
"Muslims see all people equal: they are all from one father, one mother, and their objective is to worship Allah, the One and only," Sheikh Tantawi said.
On his part, Pope Shenouda said, "We, in Egypt, have a peculiarity which no state in the world has, we live in total harmony in spite of having two different religions."
