The US and Hizbullah

The Lebanese daily al-Safir said in its Monday's issue that the Lebanese Hizbullah provided the Palestinian Intifada by special weapons and some of its members were arrested in Jordan having Katyusha missiles, noting that these members were vastly interrogated in Jordan with the participation of American investigators and the Israeli minister of defense Benjamin Bin Aliazer, in person.

The paper on Monday well-informed political sources as saying that the American and the Europeans discussed before the incidents of September 11 perceptions that avail the establishment of total and permanent calm, rather than a truce on the Lebanese, Syrian and Israeli front on the ground of halting resistance on the one hand and embarrassing Syria, in a way to isolate her.

The paper indicated that the basic objectives is to prevent Hizbullah's attempts for directly joining the heart of the Palestinian- Israeli battle.

The paper disclosed that the US had proposed to Nasrullah before the incidents of September 22, Israel's withdrawal from Shebaa for Hizbullah to drop the weapon and that the answer came negative instantly from the Hizbullah.

The paper continued that the American offer which underwent two changes after September 11, is still valid, despite the fact that there are still messages and mediation between the Hizbullah party and the US, but ended in more American frustration to the possibility that the Hizbullah party will change its position and as a result the decision was taken to listing the Hizbullah party among terrorist organizations.
