Syrian customs police confiscate drugs, smuggled items fined at 50 million SP

Members of on foot Syrian customs patrols of Damascus during the two past days confiscated various smuggled commodities including drugs, machine guns, textiles, cars, TV and electronics sets and frozen meat and fish, fined at 50 million Syrian pounds.
At the directives of the director general of the Customs administration, members of the customs smuggling fighting department on Saturday broke into the house of one of the smugglers in al-Qastal village in Damascus country side and found weapons, drug tablets, textiles, five machine guns, 580 Russian bullets, 27,000 drug tablets. Also in the same day the Damascus customs men confiscated two tons of invalid frozen fish in a truck coming from Lebanon. A committee was formed to destroy the expired fish.
On Friday morning the customs men in Homs confiscated two " Hyundai " truck loaded with electrical equipment and " second hand garments," 35 TV sets all at a cost of almost 12 million Syrian pounds.
