Russian- American agreement prepares for a comprehensive settlement for sanctions on Iraq

The US and Russia on Tuesday reached an agreement states to renew the UN oil-for-food program.
According to this agreement Russia agreed to accept a new list of commodities which will be reconsidered by the UN before transported to Iraq in the first of June 2001, while the US agreed a Russian request to maintain a comprehensive settlement of the question of the sanctions imposed on Iraq, including steps that will lead to lifting the military embargo imposed since 11 years.
The Russian ambassador to the UN Sergy Lavrov expressed his country's satisfaction over reaching this agreement.
On the other hand, the British ambassador at the UN Jermy Green-stock has described the American- Russian agreement which was approved by all UN security council five permanent states, as a very just result.
Worthy mentioning, the UN security council met on Wednesday to discuss the draft resolution embodies the Russian- American agreement. This draft resolution states to extend the oil for food for six months and the price of this oil is to be used to buy food, medicines and humanitarian items besides the compensations of war ( Iraq has to pay compensations to countries damaged by its invasion of Kuwait."
The draft also stated that the UN security council will adopt a list of double use and commodities relate to military equipment which are in need of the consent of the UN sanctions committee.
