Moroccan globe trotter in Belgium
Morocco-Regional, Local, 11/28/2001

Moroccan globe trotter, Hassan Ismail, is currently in Belgium after crossing some 15 Arab and European countries.

The adventurer, who set out from Morocco a year ago, crossed on his bike Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Turkey.

43-year-old Ismail also visited Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, France and Spain.

The globe trotter told MAP news agency in Brussels that he is touring the world as a challenge and out of love for sports, especially biking.

Through his tour around the world, Ismail also wants to show solidarity with the bare handed Palestinian people, who are facing the heavily armed Israeli army.

After Belgium, the globe trotter will head to Holland, Denmark and Sweden. He plans to return to Morocco by the immolation feast, due in two months time.
