Morocco wants to establish anti-illegal emigration cooperation with Europe
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 11/28/2001

Morocco wants to establish cooperation ties with the European Union to eradicate illegal emigration, Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa, said Tuesday.

Morocco wants to establish cooperation ties with the EU, especially at technical and technological levels, Benaissa told the Parliament.

In the absence of performing technical means, it is not possible to control ships that move at night and at high speed, he said.

Benaissa noted that despite its state-of-the-art technical means, the USA is unable to control the thousands of Latin American illegal emigrants who enter its territory.

Illegal emigration is an international phenomenon, he said, recalling the moves made by Morocco to curb the problem.
