Somalia: no bases for al-Qaida organization
Somalia-USA, Politics, 11/28/2001
Somalia has strongly denied the existence of any bases for al-Qaida organization which is led by Osama Bin laden in its territories and simultaneously welcomed any US measures to make sure herself about this matter.
The Somali prime minister Hassan Bashir Farah, currently visiting Ethiopia told journalists:" I would like to confirm clearly that there are no bases of any kind for al-Qaida organization inside Somalia." He added that the Somali government sent a message to the American government in which it called for sending a fact finding commission to Somalia, noting that the Somali government is waiting for the American reply to this invitation.
The Somalia prime minister added that if the US and Ethiopia have confirmed information on the existence of al-Qaida organization inside Somalia " we are ready to co-operate with them ( the US and Ethiopia) in order to fight this organization."
