Tunisian government signs a free trade agreement with Libya

The Tunisian parliament has ratified a draft law pertains to the agreement to establish a free trade area signed between Libya and Tunisia.

The Libyan News agency said that this agreement states total exemption from customs fees, fees and taxes on commodities of national origin exchanged between Libya and Tunisia, with the exception of commodities stated in the list of items banned from importation.

Worthy mentioning that Libya and Tunisia have agreed by the beginning of this month to establish a joint company in charge of implementing and operating the Tunisian- Libyan gas pipeline project.

The agreement which was signed by the secretary of the people's committee of the national establishment for oil in Libya Abdul Hafeez al- Zleiti and the Tunisian minister of industry al-Munsif Abdullah states to found a joint committee between the Tunisian company for electricity and gas and the national establishment for oil in Libya to implement and supervise the operation of this project.

This project, however, relates to the completion of a gas pipeline from the Libyan Mletta area to the Tunisian city of Qabes at a length of 275 kilometers and at a transportation capacity of 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.
