Sudanese president will not agree to a partial cease fire in the southern Kurdovan state
Sudan, Politics, 11/28/2001

The Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has stressed that his government will not agree to a partial cease fire in the southern Kurdovan state, that may threaten the oil pipeline which passes through the area and the adjoining oil production areas.

In his meeting with Sudanese papers chief editors and media departments heads, the Sudanese President explained that the government does not oppose a cease fire that helps reaching humanitarian and relief aids to these areas on the condition that the relief aids to be transported from inside Sudan or internally monitored through the government's authorities in the state.

He added that the Sudanese government is now in a continued dialogue with the American administration through technical teams in order to normalize relations and lift the sanctions imposed by this ( US) administration unilaterally on Sudan.
