French tourism holding to increase flights to Morocco
Morocco-France, Economics, 11/27/2001

The French tourism holding, "Nouvelles Frontieres" and its aviation subsidy CORSAIR are projecting to increase the number of flights to Morocco, in cooperation with the Moroccan carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM).

The move is meant to promote the Moroccan tourism product, chairman of the holding's surveillance council, Lucien Meudec, told MAP news agency.

He said although tourism and aviation are going through a very difficult economic juncture, the group wants to express through this move the special interest it grants to the Moroccan tourism sector and to Morocco, which remains a safe bound worth privileging.

Meudec said "Nouvelles Fronti¸res" has become one of the major tour-operators in Morocco and works to highlight the kingdom's huge tourism potentials.

Nouvelles Fronti¸res, which owns two hotels in Marrakesh and one hotel in Ouarzazate, is projecting to purchase other hotels in Morocco, mainly in Marrakesh and Agadir, he said.

Echoing him, chairman of the holding's board of directors, Ralf Corsten, said the holding is determined to consolidate its activities in Morocco and to promote the Morocco bound. The holding held a seminar in Marrakesh over the weekend to assess its tourism program of last summer. The seminar was attended by some 474 participants, who seized the opportunity to discuss with Moroccan tourism professionals and local authorities in the city means of promoting the Moroccan tourism product.
