Islam rejects all forms of extremism

Minister of Awqaf Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq said that Islam rejects all kinds of extremism and terrorism, pointing out that Jihad in Islam means repulsing the aggression, not terrorizing others.
Zaqzouq's statements came during a meeting on Thursday with a 13-member German parliamentary delegation currently visiting Egypt. The Minister said that civilization means progress and moral and material promotion.
He said that Egypt had overcome terrorism with the awareness of its citizens and their keenness on the achievements and the correct understanding of Islam.
The minister called for justice in dealing with the Palestinian cause and avoiding double standards.
