Thai police supports restoration of ties between Thailand andSaudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia-Thailand, Politics, 11/24/2001

The Royal Thai Police has supported a move by the government to restore normal relations between Thailand and Saudi Arabia, Thai news agency TNA reported.

Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police Pol. Gen. Sant Sarutanond told TNA on Saturday that he agreed with the move, as the Thai and Saudi Arabian people had had sound relations, and had had good contacts in many aspects for a long period of time, namely in the tourism and labour markets.

"I have known from Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra that Thailand will restore normal relations with Saudi Arabia after the relations had been sour since 1990 due to two crime cases. I agree with the move, as the Thai and Saudi Arabian people had had good contacts in tourism and in the labor markets. The restoration of normal relations between the two countries is believed to particularly lead to more job opportunities in Saudi Arabia for Thai workers," he stated.
