Calls to lift sanctions imposed on Iraq

The participants at the workshop organized by the Jordanian national committee in defense of Iraq and other Jordanian social, legal, political and associations on Thursday in Amman stressed the need of lifting the sanctions imposed on the Iraqi people.

On the other hand, Iraq on Thursday denied accusations addressed by the US under secretary of state John Bulton in which he said that Baghdad is developing programs on biological weapons and considered these accusations as futile and lack any evidence.

To this effect, a spokesman for the Iraqi foreign ministry said that Iraq had completed its biological program in 1991, in line with Iraq's commitment to the agreement it joined during that year. The spokesman added that according to the UN Security Council resolution no. 687 for 1991, unprecedented inspection measures were imposed on Iraq.
