Warning against Israeli canal project to link the Mediterranean to the Red Sea through the dead sea
Regional-Israel, Politics, 11/23/2001

Under the title " Israel and the Dead Sea canal project," the United Arab Emirates UAE Zayed Center for coordination and follow up has issued a study, warning against the danger implied in the Israeli projects for further hegemony and expansion. The "two-sea Israeli canal" project aims at linking the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea through the Dead Sea.

The Israeli study tackled various aspects of this project, noting it was originally a British colonialist project set in 1850.

The Study indicated that these plans are in contradiction with simplest principles of the International law, aim at undermining Arab interests and in contradiction with the peace agreements signed by Israel with both Egypt and Jordan as well as reveal Israel's nature in violating agreements and pledges.
