Regional, Economics, 11/23/2001
The chairman of the general federation of the Egyptian chambers of trade, who is also the chairman of the federation of the Arab chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture Khaled Abu Ismael has stressed that efforts will be concentrating for the two coming years, the period of Egyptian's presidency to the federation, on revitalizing the Greater Arab free trade zone and to hurry in implementing it.
He said in press statements that there are challenges facing the federation, foremost being the inter- Arab trade area and the linkage of trade systems to persons rather that policies and the internal Arab blocs.
He explained that the federation's new policy aims at revitalizing the role of the Arab chambers to increase the international and inter- Arab trade and the attempt to reach the common Arab market and a united customs federation.
Abu Ismael indicated the importance of co-ordination between Arab chambers and unifying policies and view points. He expressed his hope that the Arab states will achieve the common Arab market and the united free trade zone and these common Arab chambers to play a stronger role during the coming phase.
