Palestinian paper: Syria refused peace talks unless a solution on the Palestinian track attained
The al-Quds paper issued in the occupied Arab territories said, according to western diplomatic sources that Damascus has informed Washington its rejection to start peace negotiations with Israel before finding a solution on the Palestinian track.

The Qatari daily al-Watan quoted a Syrian diplomatic source as saying that the Syrian leadership is making contacts and dialogues with the American administration in order to prevent the occurrence of any deterioration in bilateral relations in light of the pressures made by the Jewish Lobby on this administration in order to take more measures and provocative steps against the Arabs and Muslims.

The court of appeal of Rabat acquitted 36 members of the Moroccan human rights association (AMDH), canceling thus the verdict handed by the first instance court. The group were sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of 3,000 DH (US$ 272), except for the AMDH former chairman, Abderrahmane Amor and another member Ahmde Sabri who were not sent to prison, owing to their age. The group are prosecuted for organizing and participating in an unauthorized demonstration and for causing troubles to public order. Go

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday at al-Rawda palace received the Egyptian minister of information Safwat al-Sharif. The meeting was attended by the information minister Adnan Omran. Go

Morocco's King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, will open this Wednesday the Hassanian lectures, delivered during the holy month of Ramadan, the Royal Household and Chancellery announced in a release. The financial advisor and mediator in the Saudi national federation for bank-notes trade Muhammad al-Shumeimari said that losses were inflicted on the Saudi investors in the USA following the incidents of September 11th. In a statement to the Saudi daily al-Jazira issued on Tuesday, al-Shumeimari estimated the volume of the losses inflicted on Saudi investors at USD 24 billion. Go

The police arrested over the week end fifteen persons during a demo staged by a hundred people to claim jobs and transportation. The demo degenerated when the protesters marched in various streets of the city and were joined by other people who started to throw stones at the security forces. The police was forced to intervene to disperse the riot. Go

Moroccan exports of leather and textile items were worth up to end of September 22.2 billion DH (US$ 2.01 billion), which a 4.5% growth compared to the same period of 200. According to the exchange office, the increase is due to the good performance of apparel (7.3%), shoes (11.7%) and cotton fabric which went up more than two folds. Meanwhile, hosiery items declined by 4.3%. Go
