Members of human rights association acquitted
Morocco, Politics, 11/21/2001

The court of appeal of Rabat acquitted 36 members of the Moroccan human rights association (AMDH), canceling thus the verdict handed by the first instance court. The group were sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of 3,000 DH (US$ 272), except for the AMDH former chairman, Abderrahmane Amor and another member Ahmde Sabri who were not sent to prison, owing to their age. The group are prosecuted for organizing and participating in an unauthorized demonstration and for causing troubles to public order.
