Sherin Malla :an artist of innumerable artistic manifestations

" Art is primarily action, the ability to create something new, to perfect the forms of life," said Syrian plastic artist Shrin Malla in a statement to Arabic News In her art exhibition which was opened on November 17 and lasted for one week, at the Damascus's Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh, at the patronage of the ministry of culture artist Malla displayed some 51 panels of diverse artistic experiences.

She told Arabic News that innumerable are the fields and spheres where her creative activity can be manifested, unlimited are the forms which can incorporate this activity.

She added through the phenomenon of art the highest purposiveness of nature to develop and constantly perfect life is manifested are arrested in all her panels. She continued that the more art develops on the basis of the exact knowledge conditioned by the action of immutable universal principles, the more accelerated the process of correlating, comparing and bringing these spheres of activity together will become and they will inevitably place in the center of their research and practical activity the necessity not of the development of one or several genres and kinds of art as an end in itself, but will constantly keep in the focus of their conscientiousness the necessity of the integral and many- sided development of man who will manifest, unfold and perfect his abilities, employing, in conformity with nature, all means and possibilities in the name of the common good and of progress.

In her 51 panels, the viewer is before an art bespeaks about woman's experiences, the landscapes and birds, feelings all manifested in spontaneous colors.In her rich experience inspired from several years in Italy where she still lives carrying the breathe of the East, combined with the charm of the West, artist Malla's panels always reflect atmospheres of inner joys or bitterness, reflecting reality in its extreme.

Her creativity was honored in her recent individual exhibition held in June, 1996 in Carrara, Italy. Just two months after this exhibition artists Malla was chosen to take part in the third festival for artistic creativity and she was the only woman among 30 European artists and she won the creativity and arts prize. The first national prize for the Mediterranean area.

Artist Malla who was born in Damascus in 1960 is a graduate of the Damascus university's fine arts faculty. She is now a fourth year student at the fine arts academy in Carrara, Italy.

Following several official and private contributions inside and outside Syria, artist Malla held four individual art exhibitions before leaving the country for Italy and one jointly with the renowned Syrian sculptor Mustafa Ali in Amman..

In Italy she took part in four collective art exhibitions and in one art symposium. The artist who still continues her artistic trend with deep transparency to convey a humanitarian message, held three individual art exhibitions during her stay and study in Italy.
