Egyptian Tunisian committee to meet in Cairo Tuesday

The third meeting of the Egyptian Tunisian committee of thought is to be held in Cairo on Tuesday and run for a couple of days.
The Committee will be held under the co-chairmanship of Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab affairs Helmy Bedair and Tunisian State Minister for foreign affairs Youssef Muqadem.
In an interview with Middle East News Agency, the Tunisian minister said that the committee works for draping up a visualization of the future of relations between the two states.
'The committee will refer its recommendations and ideas to the higher joint committee to be held at the level of the two countries' premiers in Cairo early next year,' he said.
These meetings will be preceded by the those of the joint political consultation and follow up committee to be held before the need of this year and Co-chaired by the two countries' foreign ministers, he added.
'The Egyptian-Tunisian meetings represent important steps for assessing and activating bilateral relations especially that they coincide with important events on regional and international levels,' he said.
The meetings provide an opportunity for discussing the latest developments on the international arena and joint and regional political and economic cooperation and coordination, he added.
He termed Egyptian -Tunisian relations as good and distinguished at various levels.
He referred to the Tunisian President spouse Mrs. Laila Bin Ali's keenness on taking part in the Arab women's extraordinary summit recently held in Cairo and holding talks with Mrs. Mubarak.
He praised permanent Egyptian- Tunisian political coordination at Arab, regional and Islamic levels at the UN meetings.
He also referred to coordination between Foreign Ministers Ahmed Maher and his Tunisian counterpart Habib Ben Yahia on various issues especially those in the field of fighting extremism and terrorism and during the Islamic Foreign Ministers meeting and the Euro-Mediterranean meeting recently held in Brussels.
On joint cooperation, he said that the two countries are in need of a new stage of economic partnership in order to implement a large number of joint economic and investment projects.
'The two countries' businessmen are keen and ready for further joint cooperation in joint projects field and for working to increase the volume of exports and imports between the two countries,' he said.
He added that the free trade area between Egypt and Tunisia would give an impetus to bilateral economic relations in the future.
