Sharon to be brought before the Belgian judiciary
Israel-Belgium, Politics, 11/20/2001

The Belgian judiciary has issued a warrant to be brought before the judge addressed to the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon in order to be in Brussels on November 28 in the framework of the case filed against him by 23 persons who survived the two Palestinian camps in Sabra and Shatilla in the outskirts of Beirut in 1982., according to the Belgian daily " Le Soire."

The paper added that it is presumed initially that the Belgian ambassador in Israel to hand over the warrant for Sharon to be present before the court of cassation in Brussels to Sharon, who when the said massacres were committed was a defense minister in Israel.

The paper added that the Belgian ambassador to Israel postponed handing over the warrant because of the visit held by the EU delegation on Sunday to Israel, chaired by the Belgian prime minister.

Worthy mentioning that the Cassation court in Brussels will on November 28 takes a decision on its authority to consider the case filed against Sharon, according to a law enacted in 1993 that gives the Belgian courts the authority to consider cases filed concerning crimes of wars and extermination and crimes against humanity wherever they take place and whosoever carry these crimes.
