Algerian president calls for concord between Morocco and Algeria
Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 11/19/2001
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has called for the return of concord between Morocco and Algeria and for the cementing of the two neighbor nations' ranks.
"I implore God to restore concord between Algeria and Morocco and to cement their ranks so that they find the climate of neighborliness that should prevail between brothers who should establish political relations on the basis of conviviality, cordiality, solidarity and affection," said president Bouteflika in a message of congratulations to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the advent of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Relations between Morocco and Algeria have been strained over the past years because of Algier's direct involvement in the issue of Moroccan Sahara.
