Real terrorism is committed by Israel

Egyptian Parliamentary Speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour said the real terrorism was what has been practiced by Israel against the unarmed Palestinians who have got the right to resist this occupation.

In an interview with the Kuwaiti As Siyassa daily, published on Wednesday, Sorour said resistance could not by any means be considered an act of terror.

"There are occupied lands in Palestine and Israel has been adopting a savage and aggressive policy," said Sorour.

Sorour, who has been recently re-elected as Parliament Speaker, said the UN confirmed Israel's withdrawal from the occupied territories.

"There are no international agreements that allow Israelis to sustain their presence in these usurped lands. But Israel is staying by force and is perpetrating an aggression that is being faced with legitimate resistance" added Sorour.

"The greatest obstacle that is hampering an agreement within the UN framework is to differentiate between terrorism and resistance, "said Sorour, noting that what Palestinians have been doing was a legitimate resistance.

On the attacks against Islam, Sorour said, " Islam calls for peace and tolerance. But, ignorant and ill-wishers attack it because they do not know its role in the human civilization."

He added, Arabs conquered many European areas and left imprints there, especially that is in Andalusia, south France and Italy. It is nonsense to deny the role of Islamic civilization.

Many terror attacks had been committed by those who belonged to religions other than Islam. This was why none ascribed terrorism to religions, he noted.

Serbs had committed carnages against Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, be stressed.

Also, Israel has been committing massacres against Palestinians and no one attributed terrorism to Judaism, Sorour pointed out.

On Egyptian-Iranian relations, Sorour said, "the relations are good in form and substance. However, it needs to be boosted by having the opinions of the Iranian side in some topics.
