Anti-terrorism battle should be under UN umbrella
Regional, Politics, 11/10/2001
The international anti-terrorism drive should be effected under the UN auspices, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa told Arab ambassador accredited to Britain.
Moussa, now visiting Britain, said all attempts to link terrorism to Arabs and Muslims should be firmly confronted.
The Arab states support the international consensus on fighting international terrorism, he said.
He cited the Arab agreement or terrorism-combat issued in 1998.
On the current Mideast situation, the League's chief said a serious wide-scale international drive is needed to put an end to Israeli practices and proceed towards a serious peace process based not on shaking hands but on a clear-cut plan.
