Euro-Mediterranean forum backs Mubarak's anti-terror conference
Regional-European Union, Politics, 11/10/2001

An extraordinary meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Forum Thursday backed President Hosni Mubarak's call for an international UN-sponsored conference against terrorism. It (the forum) endorses a proposal to convene an international conference on terrorism under the auspices of the United Nations, a final declaration said.

It emphasized that "no state must compromise itself with the terrorists by agreeing, for whatever reasons, to house them on its soil or to give refuge to persons who advocate violence."

The communique condemned the use of "economic embargoes against any country in view of the fact that it may worsen the humanitarian situation there and calls for compliance with United Nations resolutions in this respect."
