UAE: attempt made by foreign prisoners to escape, failed

The United Arab Emirates UAE news agency said on Wednesday that some 20 foreign prisoners in the UAE tried on Tuesday evening to escape from a prison in Raas al-Kheima but their attempt doomed to failure.
The agency explained quoting col. Muhammad al-Noubi, the charge de affairs for the director general of the Police department in Raas al-Kheima that a group of prisoners in charges relating to illegal stay in the country tried on Tuesday evening to break the prison's main door in order to flee away.
Al-Noubi said the police men opened fire in the air to frighten the prisoners without casualties and damages between either the prisoners or the policemen.
He added that the prison contains 100 prisoners or arrested men.
Earlier police men department said that 14 prisoners including 7 of the UAE nationality were killed by the end of October of a fire erupted by drug addicts who set fire to escape from a police center in Dubai, one of the UAE seven emirates.
