Al- Shara holds a series of meetings in Brussels

The Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara on Tuesday in Brussels met with the European Troika delegation including the Belgian foreign minister Louis Michael, the higher representative of the foreign policy for the European Union Javier Solana and the EU foreign relations commissioner Cress Patten.
The meeting was attended by the Arab foreign ministers who are members in the Barcelona process.
Discussions dealt with issues debated on the agenda of the 5th Euro- Mediterranean ministerial conference and means of revitalizing the Barcelona process on an equal footing among all member states.
The two sides also discussed conditions in the occupied territories and regional and international conditions in general.
Al-Shara stressed to the Troika delegation the need of putting an end to the tragedies taking place in the Palestinian territories as a result of the aggressive policy pursued by Israel in killing the innocent Palestinian.
Earlier in the morning a meeting was held between al-Shara and his Dutch counterpart Van Artchen during which the two ministers reviewed latest developments on the regional and international arenas and issues relating to the ministerial conference of the countries of the Barcelona process currently held in Brussels.
Discussions dealt with the continued Israeli escalation in the occupied Arab territories and the policy of repression conducted by Israel against the Palestinian civilians.
Al-Shara also met with the German foreign minister Yushka Fischer on the sideline of the ministerial conference. Latest developments on the international arena were reviewed during the meeting.
