Arab lawyers support Mubarak's call for international conference on terror
Regional-Bahrain, Politics, 11/6/2001

The permant office of the Arab Lawyers Union Secretariat on Monday expressed its support for President Hosni Mubarak's call for holding an UN-sponsored conference on fighting terrorism.

'Such a conference should define the term terrorism, determine means to eliminate it and differentiate between it and armed struggle for liberating occupied lands, 'the office said.

The remarks were part of an address delivered at a four-day meeting the office started Monday in Manama to discuss continuing support for the Palestinian Intifada.

The office condemned the U.S. media campaign against the Arabs because of their backing of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and their total rejection of Israel's practices and ongoing aggressions against the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Arab Lawyers Union and Chief of the Bar Association Sameh Ashour said that Egypt does its best in condemning terrorism and all forms of violence.

Ashour called for lifting the embargo imposed on Iraq, Libya and Sudan.
