Euro-med partnership committee holds first assembly in Morocco

The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Permanent Committee will hold its first assembly in Morocco on November 11-12.
The meeting, held under the generic theme "2010: the Mediterranean, a space of partnership and cooperation," will debate issues pertaining to the role of local powers and regional institutions in the materialization of the Barcelona Declaration of 1995 and cooperation in the realms of economy, finance, tourism, culture, technology and others.
The Committee, whose executive bureau is chaired by Morocco, was set up in 2000 in Palermo, Italy, as an instrument entrusted with the materialization of the Barcelona Declaration. The Committee musters 86 members from 27 countries from the two shores of the Mediterranean.
