Palestine-Israel, Politics, 11/6/2001

As soon as the Israeli forces pulled out from Qalqilya, they broke into Rafah and Israeli tanks fired shells at houses of the Palestinian civilians and this resulted in destroying five houses and wounding three citizens.

After breaking into Rafah, the Israeli forces broke into Arranah village, Jenin district, while special Israeli forces were breaking into the houses of the village backed by Apatchi planes. The bombardment in Toulkarem resulted in killing the Palestinian citizen Othman Nimer and the Palestinian policeman Saeed Abu Shmesay was killed by the Israeli forces in Ramullah.

A Palestinian infant was wounded when a group of Israeli women settlers attacked the child and his mother near al-Aqsa mosque in hebron on Monday evening.

Palestinian sources said that the infant was admitted at Aleyah hospital for medical treatment.

One Egyptian policeman was strongly wounded during fire exchange between the Israeli army forces and the Palestinian Intifada youths near Rafah at the Egyptian- Palestinian borders.

The Israeli radio quoted Palestinian sources as saying that army officer Muhammad Ahmad Salamah was admitted to rafah hospital and then to Cairo for medical treatment.

The Palestinians retaliated by opening fire at an Israeli military position in a settlement in Hebron and direct hits were achieved. They also detonated an explosive on one of the Israeli factories in Jenin and this resulted in killing three Israeli settlers and wounding many others.

The Palestinian Intifada youths detonated an explosive in an Israeli military car near " Neve Dekalim" settlement and also destroyed a military car upon passing by Qousin village, Nablus district.

Meantime the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon gave his instructions to the foreign minister Shemon Peres not to make negotiations with the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat in Brussels during the Euro- Mediterranean partnership conference.

Sharon claimed that he is working with Peres to draft a political plan but refused to disclose its nature.

Sharon said that there is no American political plan on the situation in the region, noting he is making continued contacts with the US secretary of state Colin Powel.

Sharon said that the US will informs " Israel" about the speech Powel will read during the deliberations of the UN security council resolutions.

Sharon also stressed that his forces detained 85 Palestinian during breaking in operations in the cities of the west bank.
