Iraq-France, Politics, 11/6/2001

Iraq's deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz has called on France to take stances that serve the common interests between the two countries and strengthening peace and stability in the region.

The Iraqi dailies issued on Friday quoted Aziz as saying during his meeting with the deputy chairman of the French national society ( parliament), currently visiting Iraq that his country is careful to develop its relations with France in all fields.

The papers explained that Aziz and the French officials discussed during the meeting the developments of political incidents especially the situation at the UN security council which is presumed to start during this month ( November) discussions on extending work in the oil for food agreement which has been valid since 1996.
