British dailies and Blair's talks in Damascus

The British daily the " Independent' said that the British prime minister Tony Blair will be always the man of difficult missions despite the fact he was treated in a harsh way in Syria and was frustrated in israel.
In an article issued on Friday, the paper added that Blair thought during the first minutes of his meeting with President bashar al-Assad in Damascus that the young Syrian President can give a new and vivid idea for any solution for the Middle East question but he ( Blair ) and his team retreated backward when President Bashar al-Assad strongly criticized the war against Afghanistan " while standing beside the British prime minister on the screen of the TV in an open press conference.
The paper continued that Blair, then, realized that the visit of the first British prime minister to Syria has become under the danger of being converted into a failure in public relations.
The paper added that a feeling of unrest prevailed on the face of Blair in Israel which prime minister strongly and for a long time criticized President Bashar al- Assad, with whom just one day before Blair had dinner with the President in Damascus just one day before his visit to Israel.
However, Blair and the accompanying delegation are persistent that the tour was successful.
