Jordan refuses a demonstration marking the Balfore declaration
Jordan, Politics, 11/5/2001

The Jordanian government has refused a request proposed by the Jordanian national parties to organize a massive demonstration on Friday marking the Balfore declaration ( the declaration given on November 2, 1917 by the British foreign secretary Balfore provided for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine).

The rejection was expressed by the governor of Amman Talaaat al-Nawaesah who justified the rejection to preserve the security and the law under the current prevailing conditions.

The chairman of the higher co- ordination committee for the Jordanian national parties Muhammad al-Zou'bi criticized this rejection and said the Jordanian parties and civil societies establishments call for the freedom of expression in compliance with the law and the constitution.
