Somalia-Kenya, Politics, 11/2/2001
Kenya's President Daniel Arab Moy on Thutsday in Nairobi opened the negotiations between the Somali provisional government and a group representing heads of the Somali war lords. The negotiations are expected to continue until Sunday.
News reports said that Kenya's President expressed his hope that the negotiations will result in establishing a unity government in Somalia.
Moy said that if this meeting proved to be a success into forming a national unity government:" I will open the borders between Somalia and Kenya which have been closed for months."
Worthy mentioning that the Somali President Abdi Qasem Salat Hassan, who presides over the government's delegation, is leading the government's delegation to the meeting, while the Somali council for reconciliation and reforms which includes heads of opposition groups is led by its secretary general Moulid Maan Muhammad who for his part stressed that the council will give utmost concessions in order to unify the Somalis and form a national government.
