Morocco takes part in international tourism and travel exhibition in Montreal
Morocco, Economics, 10/29/2001

Morocco is taking part in the international tourism and travel exhibition held this October 26-28 here, promising to be more than ever a stimulator of the tourism market.

Morocco, which has been present in this exhibition since its creation in 1988, is among 250 other participants representing some one hundred regions of the world.

Thanks to cooperation between the Moroccan tourism office (ONMT) and air carrier (RAM), the Moroccan pavilion, displaying an ochre Menara topped with green tiles, has been placed between two other popular tourist destinations, Egypt of the pharaohs and Blue Tunisia.

Despite the general regression in the number of western visitors to Arab countries, the Morocco bound seems to keep its image as a favorite destination, mainly due to the country's safety reputation, Moroccan ambassador to Canada told a group of journalists from Quebec who have just returned from Morocco.

In their stories published by various papers, the journalists insist on the rich tourism attractions in the kingdom and the conviviality and tolerance of its inhabitants, in addition to the diligent security measures taken by the Moroccan authorities at the airports and check points.

The journalists also quote testimonies by numerous tourists who are visiting Morocco to enjoy the sun.

The journalists, whose stay in Morocco coincided with the Marrakesh international cinema festival, were able to meet and interview the international starts, like Egyptian Omar Sharif, who confirmed that "there is no reason not to come to Morocco."
