Al-Assad concludes a successful visit to Sudan

President bashar al-Assad on Sunday returned back to the country following an official visit to Sudan that lasted for two days during which he held talks with the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir dealt with relations between the two states and means of supporting and strengthening them in various fields.
Discussions also dealt with conditions in the Palestinian territories and at the international arena. Also returned back with the President were the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara, the deputy foreign minister Suleiman Haddad and members of the accompanying delegation to the President.
On Sunday afternoon, the two Presidents held a bilateral meeting at the President's residence in Khartoum in which they completed discussions already debated on Saturday.
Earlier in the day at his residence in Khartoum President aL-Assad received respectively Ali Othman Muhammad Taha the first deputy for the Sudanese President and Mousa Mashar, vice President, Ahmad Ibrahim al-Taher the chairman of the national council and Ibrahim Ahmad Omar al-Amin the secretary general of the national conference.
During the meetings discussions dealt with bilateral relations and means of strengthening and supporting them in all fields.
Stress was laid on the need of intensifying meetings between officials in the two countries for the benefits of the two people and the Arab nation.
On Sunday morning President al-Assad visited the industrial " Jiad" city in al-Jazira province situated to the north of al-Khartoum.
However, the following statement was issued in conclusion of President al-Assad's visit to Sudan: Syria and Sudan have stressed their total support for the brave Palestinian Intifada in being a just struggle to end the Israeli occupation. The two sides called on all Arab states to support this Intifada so as the Palestinians will be able to restore back their unwavering rights especially the establishment of their own independent state with Jerusalem as a capital.
The two sides called on the international community to abide by its responsibility in forcing Israel to halt its aggressions against the Palestinians and to implement international legitimacy resolutions, They stressed that a just and comprehensive peace is only attainable through Israel's complete withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories.
The two sides reiterated their condemnation of terrorism in all its forms in being an act violates divine religion and humanitarian values, noting the need to make a distinction between terrorism and the legitimate struggle to fighting resistance and the need to challenge terrorism in the framework of the UN.
The two sides called for lifting sanctions imposed on Iraq and called for finding out a final solution to the question of the prisoners and missing, stressing firm stand against violating the sovereignty, stability and security of both Kuwait and Iraq.
