A nearby government reshuffle in Syria
Syria, Politics, 10/29/2001

The Lebanese daily al-Lewa' issued on Saturday quoted well-informed Sources as saying that a ministerial reshuffle will take place very soon in Syria and that this change will be comprehensive and in the framework of the development and modernization campaign led by President Bashar al-Assad.

The paper continued quoting these sources that the new ministry will include ministers of high vocational and scientific qualifications, regardless to their Baath party affiliation and that Presidential instructions in Syria stipulated that the candidate for the post of the minister should be a nationalist and enjoys high qualifications and committed to his country.

The sources expected the reshuffle to target the prime minister, and the ministers who occupy key positions in the country noting that change, modernization and development are eventually coming.
