News reports in Damascus said that Damascus has shown some cooperation with efforts made by the US administration in its war against terrorism as the Syrian foreign ministry has investigated all Syrian banks on the existence of any bank accounts to persons and organizations the US administration believes they deal with al-Qayeda organization.

Diplomatic source in Damascus said that the Syrian deputy foreign minister Walid al-Mu'allim has recently informed the US ambassador in Damascus Theodore Qattouf that no financial relations exist for these persons and organizations in the Syria state run banks.

The sources denied any official cooperation between Damascus and the FBI and any FBI delegation to have had visited the city of Aleppo to investigate in the relations the Egyptian Muhammad Atta who is presumed to carry out one of the suicide explosions against the US during his visit to Aleppo twice in 1994..

The sources explained that the US administration has urged the Syrian government to join international agreements to fighting terrorism.

However Syria has already joined 4 agreements out of 12 international agreements.

The Syrian sources did not confirm that, but indicated that Damascus will be one of the 15 world states which will supervise the mechanism emerged from the UN resolution 1373 on fighting terrorism, in its capacity as a non- permanent members at the UN security council.
