Moussa condemns Israeli slaughters in Beit Reema
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 10/27/2001

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa condemned the slaughters perpetrated by the Israeli army in the West Bank village of Beit Reema. The slaughters claimed the lives of 21 Palestinians.

In a press release on Friday, Moussa said that the killing of those martyrs, and others before, tolls the bell of danger to the international community

Moussa warned of condoning the Israeli crimes against Palestinians, adding that the Arab world is extremely angry over the strange silence of the world and its inaction to deter the Israeli acts which further tension and push the region into the abyss of destruction.

He urged the UN Security Council to take immediate and proper measures to end these atrocities.

Moussa said that he will raise the issue during his meeting on Friday with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and the UN Security Council Chairman.

He said that he asked the US, in its capacity as the chief peace patron, to interfere in order to stop the Israeli crimes and insure an immediate and unconditional withdrawal from the Palestinian territories.

Moussa said that he addressed the same message to US State Secretary Colin Powell and other administration officials.

He warned that lagging in that respect will cause further deterioration and cause the feelings of optimism that emerged with US President George Bush's announcement of support for a Palestinian state to evaporate.
