Libyan intelligence chief meets with British, American security figures
Libya, Politics, 10/27/2001
The London- based al-Zamaan daily issued in London said on Friday that the chairman of the Libyan intelligence Mousa Kousa met in London high ranking British and American intelligence and discussed during his meetings with them his country's cooperation with the west concerning the file of terrorism.
The paper quoted well-informed sources as saying that Kousa met within a high ranking Libyan delegation led by the Libyan ambassador in London, and the Libyan ambassador in Italy, the Italian deputy foreign minister and the chairman of the north Africa department at the US state department and the US ambassador in London.
The paper indicated that the participants in the meeting discussed the Lockerbie file as both London and Washington want this file to be closed and to start a new phase of security co-operation with Tripoli against terrorism.
Moreover, French sources told the paper that the Libyan official carried with him to London very useful files and information on " growing cells" of terrorist organizations in Africa and inside the European territories, noting that Libya wants to get something for this initiative and this is through pressures to be made by London at the opposition Libyan islamic organization on the British territories and to hand over its leaders to the Libyan authorities.
