Egyptian- Libyan consultation mechanism

Meetings of the political consultation mechanism between Egypt and Libya will be held in Tripoli in November.

The Egyptian side to these consultation meetings which stem from meetings of the joint Egyptian- Libyan higher committee will be headed by the deputy foreign minister for Arab affairs Helmi Bader. The Libyan side is chaired by the assistant secretary general for investment affairs in the Libyan people's committee for African unity Khaled al-Zantouni.

Egypt's ambassador to Libya Hani Khallaf said that during the meetings of the political consultation mechanism the two sides will discuss bilateral relations and means of coordinating stances towards regional and international issues.

He continued that among the main issues to be discussed during the meeting are the two countries's positions towards current international developments towards fighting terrorism, the situation in the occupied Arab territories and the Egyptian- Libyan initiative towards attaining national reconciliation in Sudan as well as the future of the African federation, building its main structures and prospects of works in the coalition of the desert and coast states after Egypt had joined it in February this week.
