Morocco's premier meets King Abdullah
Jordan-Morocco, Politics, 10/25/2001

Moroccan prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, was received in Amman on Wednesday by King Abdullah of Jordan to whom he conveyed an oral message from King Mohammed VI.

The message deals with mechanisms to consolidate Moroccan-Jordanian relations and cooperation, in addition to a set of regional and international issues.

The Jordanian monarch underscored that bilateral relations are an example for inter-Arab relations and insisted on the two Arab countries' resolve to consolidate and diversify them.

Talks covered the serious security situation in the occupied Arab territories and the sufferings of the Palestinian people, due to the Israeli army repeated aggressions and blockade measures.

King Abdullah said it is necessary to ask the international organizations to endeavor for the resumption of the peace process, on the basis of international resolutions, mainly resolutions 242 and 338 and agreements reached between the Palestinians and Israelis.

Youssoufi and King Abdallah also reviewed international efforts to fight terrorism and called for an Arab unified stand to underscore Arab refusal of any confusion between terrorism, Arabs and Islam.

Youssoufi and Jordanian prime minister, Ali Abu Ragheb, briefed the Jordanian monarch on the meetings of the joint high commission, held October 24-25.

The Moroccan prime minister hailed the Jordanian monarch's efforts to support the Palestinian people and noted the two countries' same vision regarding the emergency of taking an international action to end the cycle of violence in the region.

Youssoufi then reviewed with Jordanian foreign minister Abdelilah Al Khatir, items on the agenda of the high joint commission as a new stage in cooperation between the two states.
