Intensive bombardment at Taliban position to the north of Afghanistan

The American jets continued to bombard the Afghani capital Kabul while the main battlefield was transferred to the north of Afghanistan where the advanced positions of Taliban are situated towards the northern opposition forces.

Washington had also installed a military base near Halmand inside the Afghani borders while 2000 troopers of the special forces were deployed at 45 Km from the Afghani soldiers.

For the fourth successive day the US jets F18, F15, F16 and C130 bombarded the frontlines of the Taliban forces to the north of Afghanistan with the aim to cut supplies and weaken their military potentials so as to avail the opposition forces to continue its progress towards Mazar al-Sharif.

The bombardment centered on positions facing Bafram and Shreikar cities which are controlled by the opposition besides 4 villages which used to be under Taliban forces control. Violent fighting took place between the two sides at the frontier of Mazar al-Sharif city.

On Wednesday afternoon, five American jets raided Taliban positions near Seyako at the entrance of Kabeisa valley to the northern east of Kabul. Several sorties were carried out over Shoumali plain and 13 bombs were at least dropped, the Taliban's anti aircraft missiles intensively retaliated the bombardment.

News reports of the Qatari al-Jazira satellite station said that US Commandos group have started to arrive in the military base established by the American forces inside the Afghani border between Harat and Qandahar cities.

Other sources stressed that tens of American soldiers are daily joining their colleagues at Khan Abaad base which id 45 Km from the Afghani border and the number so far has reached 2000 troopers from the soldiers of the "10th mountains" and the said soldiers have started daily exercises on opening fire by weapons equipped by night- vision systems.
