Vedrine stressed the need of establishing the Palestinian state
Palestine-France, Politics, 10/25/2001
The French Foreign minister Hubert Vedrine has stressed the need of establishing the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as a capital.
In an article issued by the French daily Le Monde and quoted by the Monte Carlo radio on Wednesday, Vedrine stressed the need of Israel's suspension of its military operations against the Palestinians and building and expanding settlements as well as imposing economic siege and joining negotiations with the Palestinians on the permanent condition..
He indicated that the suspension of violence will lead to an agreement between the two sides to join negotiations and to accept a just international monitoring mechanism, in the context of the Mitchell committee recommendations.
He called on the Israelis and the Palestinians to eliminate the current bottleneck towards Israel's acceptance of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as a capital and the commitment of the Palestinian Authority to what he called security for the Israelis.
