Arab environment ministers meet in Cairo

Works of the 13th session of the Arab ministers of the environment started today at the premises of the Arab League AL in Cairo under the chairmanship of Yemen in order to discuss decisions and recommendations of its executive bureau.
An official source at the AL economic department said that the participants in the meeting will discuss several issues especially the greater free Arab trade zone, inter- Arab trade as well as means of maintaining inter- Arab co-operation and co-ordination among ministerial Arab councils and liberalizing trade services in the environment field.
The council will also discuss Arab preparations for the world summit conference on sustainable development due to be held in South Africa in September 2002 as well as coordinating a united Arab position towards it including the convening of a joint ministerial meeting for the Arab ministers of the environment, the economy and planning to prepare a comprehensive Arab report to be submitted for the summit.
