Saudi Arabia and the financing of religious schools
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 10/24/2001

US Senator Joseph Byden, chairman of the foreign committee at the US Senate has called for the need to tell Saudi Arabia to halt financing extremist religious schools in various parts of the world.

News reports quoted Byden as saying on Monday " I do no doubt the pressure the Saudis fall under like any other Arab state in the region, which are obliged to keep good tied with extremists groups to protect themselves."

He indicated that the Saudis ensure great deal of financing extremist religious schools and many of these schools are full of feeling of hatred to the Americans. He called on the US to make direct discussions with Saudi Arabia and asked for suspension such activities " otherwise there will be grave consequences. "
