Casablanca hosts meeting of french-speaking mayors association

The international association of mayors and officials of entirely or partially French-speaking capitals and metropolises will hold its 21st general assembly on October 24-25.
The meeting titled "cities and linguistic and cultural diversity" will debate cultural diversity in relation with economic development and cultural diversity and governance.
Set up in 1979, the association gathers over 100 capitals and large cities from 44 countries. It is presently chaired by the mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoe. In the last 10 years, it was behind more than 200 projects for living conditions improvement and modernization of municipal services in several cities, including Casablanca, Marrakesh and Meknes.
The association had already held three of its general assemblies in Casablanca, in 1982, in 1986 and in 1994.
Casablanca also hosted in 1988 an international colloquy on urban transport, sponsored by the association.
