Egyptian efforts to stop Israeli aggression on Palestinians

Egypt is conducting urgent intensive contacts with the United States, the European Union and a number of Arab countries to contain the dangerous situation in the occupied territories and put an end to the Israeli incursion on the Palestinian towns and villages.
President Hosni Mubarak called on the world countries to immediately intervene to stop Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's aggressive policy against the Palestinians and incursion on the Palestinian territories.
President Hosni Mubarak received a report from Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher on the contacts he made with his European, US and Arab counterparts on the dangerous situation in the Palestinian territories.
Maher contacted foreign ministers of France, Germany, and Italy. He probed over the phone early Sunday with US Secretary of State Colin Powell the serious developments in Palestine and the necessity of stopping Israeli incursions into Palestinian territories.
Powell reiterated the US stance which highlights the necessity of providing security for both the Palestinians and Israelis.
Powell is accompanying US President George Bush who takes part in the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Shanghai, China.
The US secretary of State said he holds contacts with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Foreign minister Shimon Peres, who will arrive to the US during the coming hours.
He also made a telephone call on Sunday with British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and probed with him the volatile situation in the occupied territories, the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and the importance of halting the Israeli attacks.
Maher also phoned Palestinian Minister of International Cooperation Nabil Shaath and briefed him on the outcome of intensive contacts he had made with officials of the United States and European and
