Somalia seeks UN support
Somalia, Politics, 10/22/2001
Somalia's prime minister Ali Khaleif Jalaydah has urged the UN to help in unifying his country's ranks while facing internal conflicts and divisions.
News reports quoted Jalaydah as saying at the UN Security Council in deliberations which lasted for one full day on Friday that there is a need to train the Somali security forces in order to protect the country internally and to ensure the security of its borders.
The Somali official explained that the donor states offered more than USD one million to train the police or to provide their salaries or even food.
