World trade conference expected to be transferred from Doha to Singapore
Qatar-Regional, Politics, 10/19/2001

Well-informed Qatari sources expected the possibility of transferring the venue of convening the next ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization which is due to be held on November 9 to an Asian capital instead of Doha, expected to be Singapore.

The official sources indicated that Qatar exerted all efforts and necessary arrangements, noting that there is a general trend at the WTO to transfer the place of convening the meeting following the eruption of the war in Afghanistan.

The Qatari delegation which returned back to Doha just three days ago from a meeting held in Singapore briefed officials at the WTO with the Qatari arrangements which won the admiration of all sides.

A Qatari decision is expected to be issued next week towards transferring the venue of the meeting from Doha to another place.
